KALIBO, Aklan, Feb. 23 – A hill in Barangay Taruytoy, Libacao, Aklan was officially named after Architect Jose Manosa because of his concern on the environment of the said hinterland municipality.
Libacao mayor Charito Navarosa said that naming of the hill as 'Monte de Manosa' was approved through a local legislation.
Manosa was recently considered as an adopted son of Libacao.
The hill is located in the Central Panay Mountain Ranges (CPMR) overlooking the view of the four provinces of Panay Island.
According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the CPMR is home to several endangered species such as the cloud rat and the spotted deer.
"We conferred the name of the hill to Manosa because he was the one who created the Libacao master development plan which was not only aimed to alleviate poverty but also to protect and conserve the environment of our town," said Navarosa.
Manosa was declared last year as a national artist by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo because of his advocacy on environment through architecture. (PNA) RMA/JNAguirre/vlo
