MANILA, Feb. 24 - Ambassador Erlinda F. Basilio has assumed for the second time the post of Undersecretary for Policy of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), replacing Enrique A. Manalo who will move to Brussels as Philippine Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union.
In her new post, Basilio will also be the Philippine Senior Official to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and other regional and multilateral bodies.
Basilio first served in the same position from April 2006 to August 2007.
Her last previous assignment was as the Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva where she was responsible for the Philippines representation in the various UN institutions and offices located in Geneva.
These are the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), World Health Organization (WHO), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the International Labour Organization (ILO).
She also was responsible for representations in other important Geneva-based organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cress/International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (ICRC/IFRC), the International Organization on Migration (IOM) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
