Japanese training squadron due in Manila March 4 to 7

MANILA, Feb. 24 — The three-vessel training squadron of Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) is scheduled to make a goodwill visit to Manila from March 4 to 7, the Japanese embassy here announced Wednesday.

The “JS Shirayuki” (DD123), “JS Mineyuki” (DD124) and “JS Setoyuki” (DD131), will berth at Pier 13, South Harbor, on March 4 at 9:00 a.m. and will depart for Japan on March 7 at 5:30 a.m.

The ships of about 600 officers and crew members aboard, including 100 newly commissioned officers, are under the command of Captain Makoto Ito, according to the embassy.

The visit include courtesy calls on ranking Philippine officials and friendly sports activities with Philippine counterparts. (PNA)
