MANILA, Feb. 27 — Peace starts from the heart.
Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Annabelle T. Abaya made the statement in a speech before members of 96 Rotary Clubs in Metro Manila and thousands of volunteers from various sectors during a gathering for peace held at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City Saturday morning.
The participants joined their hands together to form a human chain around the four-kilometer circle.
Ninety-six Rotary Clubs in Metro Manila sponsored the event to emphasize that the whole world needs peace now.
Peace starts from oneself, Abaya said.
She stressed that talking is the best way to settle any dispute to dissipate anger.
Abaya cited the need to see for ourselves what we can do to promote peace at home, in the community and the whole country.
Since peace starts from the heart, she said people must be sincere in their thoughts, words and deeds.
As secretary on the peace process, Abayas office is supervising the peace talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Communist Party of the Philippines/New Peoples Army/National Democratic Front (CPP/NPA/NDF).
Since assuming the job last November, Abaya has pushed to revive the peace process. (PNA)
