VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur, Feb. 27 — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo took time off from her hectic Super Region accomplishment visits to attend here today, as principal sponsor, the wedding of the son of Deputy National Security Adviser Luis Chavit Singson.
Thousands of guests and onlookers packed the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral here as the President and the other prominent sponsors spent the full two-hour church ceremony for Singson son, Ryan, and his bride Patch Savellano.
The President was paired with LakasKampi-CMD presidential candidate and former Defense Secretary Gilbert Gibo Tedodoro as main sponsors. The other sponsors pairings have some personalities from the political opposition but the wedding went through with no political understones.
The list of sponsors includes Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo V. Puno paired with Hilda Choa; former Secretary Hermogenes Esperon of the Presidential Management Staff with Henedina Sison; Senator Francis Pangilinan with wife, Sharon Cuneta who was absent); Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. with Ambassador Romela Bengzon; Rep. Anton Lagdameo with SPM Chuchi Purisima; Gov. Miguel Dominguez with Bea Zobel Jr; taipan Lucio Tan (also absent) with Irene Marcos-Araneta; Manuel Pangilinan with Joy Crisologo; Manny Pacquiao (who is in the US but represented by American trainer Freddie Roach) with Lydia Durano; Eduardo Manzano with Pinky Tobiano and Cirilo Lao with Maria Angela Heredia.
The best men were Rep. Ronaldo V. Singson with Josephine Savellano and Benjie Yu with Ma. Bettina Mendoza and Elise Natalia Marie S. Singson.
The President resumes on Monday her Super Region sorties with a visit to the Northern Luzon Agbribusiness Quadrangle, the last of the five growth regions she identified in her 2006 strategic development plan. (PNA)
