5.1-magnitude earthquake jolts Taiwan

TAIPEI, March 8 — A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan Monday, said the local weather bureau.

So far no casualties or property losses have been reported.

The quake occurred at about 5:26 p.m. about 15.9 km southeast of southern Chiayi City, with its epicenter 14.3 km underground, according to the bureau.

The Chiayi City registered an intensity at 5, the bureau said. (PNA/Xinhua) vcs/utb
