BACOLOD CITY, March 29 Negros Occidental governor Isidro Zayco asked Negrense to continue the pursuit of saving Mother Earth making the Earth Hour celebration Saturday evening as their jump off point.
Governor Zayco led the ceremonial switching off of lights at the SM City Bacolod Saturday evening that was participated in by local officials of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, academe, private and environmental groups.
He added that the said endeavor sent a strong signal that the people are ready to take action on global warming and that the journey towards saving mother earth is moving forward.
He said the activity was indeed distinct because it demonstrated the oneness of everyone in responding to climate change which calls for a global action.
Zayco urged the people of Bacolod and the province of Negros Occidental to carry on the journey and to respond to the earths need for respite from suffocation.
With solidarity, let us carry out the challenge of the earth hour to save energy on a daily basis in homes, our communities and our country. (PNA)
