MANILA, April 29 – Following Malacanang's declaration of May 3 as a non-working holiday, the Supreme Court's Office of the Bar Confidant on Thursday moved the signing of the Roll of Attorneys for new lawyers from May 3 to May 5.
However, Bar Confidant Atty. Ma. Cristina Layusa said that the other scheduled dates of signing of the Roll of Attorneys, which were earlier given to the new members of the Bar remain.
The new lawyers took their oath on Wednesday at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.
A total of 1,451 out of the 5,903 examinees from 108 law schools nationwide passed the 2009 Bar examinations held on Sept. 6, 13 and 20 and Oct. 4, 2009 at the De La Salle University in Taft Avenue, Manila.
Reinier Paul Yebra of San Beda College law school topped the Bar exams with a rating of 84.80 percent.
Associate Justice Antonio Eduardo Nachura, the 2009 Committee on Bar Examinations chairman, said that the number of those who passed the Bar exams represented 24.58 percent of the total number of examinees.
Associate Justice Conchita Carpio Morales will chair this year's Bar examinations. (PNA)
