DOTC readies help desk in ports

ILOILO CITY, May 27 – The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) will be activating a passenger assistance center in all Iloilo ports on June 7 to 18 as part of its preparation for the opening of classes.

PCG commander Eduardo Fabricante said that a memorandum signed by DOTC Undersecretary Thompson Lantion was sent to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to take an active part in passenger assistance centers.

Fabricante said that ‘help desk’ will be found in the ports of Aduana, Muelle Loney, Ortiz and Parola.

The desk will assist students and passengers by providing directions and other related concerns.

Fabricate also said that the help desk for students was specifically activated in support of the ‘Balik Eskuela’ program of the Department of Education (Deped).

In addition to help desk security measures will also be enhanced, he said.

Thousands of students are expected to flock here starting June 15. (PNA) RMA/LPCarnaje
