DAVAO CITY, June 25 — The Philippine Constructors Association, Inc. (PCA) will hold the biggest construction equipment and building materials exposition ever organized in the Mindanao region at the convention hall of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas here on July 1-3.
PCA president Levy V. Espiritu said the expo will bring to the Mindanao island the latest technology in the construction industry where the biggest brands and companies from all over the country are set to participate in the three-day event.
Espiritu said they deemed it fit to bring to Mindanao what have been regular shown in the series of exposition they conduct in Manila, saying that new technology be made available to the stakeholders in the island.
He said about a hundred top brands have signed up to be part of the expo among them are CEMEX Phils., Cleamco Industrial Corp., Cobankiat Hardware, Inc., Comer Industrial and Metal Manufacturing Development, Eurodach Philippines, Hitachi Air-Conditioning Products (Philippines) Inc., Holcim Philippins, Koppel Inc., Man Automative Concessionaires Corp., Monark Equipment, Pacific Paint (Boysen) Phils., Panasonic, Robert Bosch and others.
Espiritu said this is not just an exhibit because they would like to share to those in the construction industry, including consumers of construction services and materials, the technology that is not only cost effective but of quality standard.
While the latest designs and brands in the market will be showcased during the expo dubbed as PHILCONSTRUCT Mindanao, it will also have a techno forum with relevant issues to be tackled, among them are the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 9184 by the Government Procurement Policy Board (GPPB) on topics on "Want to Secure Government Contracts?", and "Want to Know More About Warranty Requirements?".
There will be seminar on Alternative Dispute Resolution, the Advantages of Arbitration over Court Litigation and How to File a Claim by Construction Industry Arbitration Commission/Philippine Institute of Contraction Arbitrators and Mediators (CIAC/PICAM).
The Revised Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Standard Specifications will be discussed by the DPWH Bureau of Research and Standards (BRS).
The HOLCIM Philippines will conduct the seminar on Concrete Technology: Concrete Fundamentals and Practice.
The Overview of High Performance Green Building will be discussed by Engr. Ramon Aguillos while the salient points of PSVARE Energy Efficient Standard will be tackled by Engr. Fernando Guevarra and the Green Building Rating System for the Philippines by Engr. Dennis Alejandro.
PCA executive officer Manolito P. Madrastro said on display will not only be products but also equipment for the construction industry players to see, and with this event they would assess the kind of equipment and products that they would need in their respective businesses.
He also said through this collaboration they would be able to educate or provide the latest information that is relevant to the industry.
He said it is high time that what is being practiced by their counterpart in other parts of the world be made available through educating this sector for both the professional and skilled ones.
He said there is a need to strengthen the construction industry where any undertaking has multiplier effect thus making the economy strong.
Engr. Ramon Allado, chairman of PHILCONSTRUCT Mindanao 2010, said their group has been designed and positioned to bring the latest developments, products, services, and technologies in the construction industry and this is the biggest venue ever created to showcase the many business opportunities brought about by the line-up of construction projects now on-going in the Mindanao region.
He said they have teamed up with the Philippine Society of Ventilating, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration Engineers, Inc. (PSVARE) and the Mindanao International Heating, Ventilating, Air-Conditioning, Refrigerating, Pumps, Valves and Pipes, Filtration and Purification Technology Exhibition.
He said at the Expo will showcase five key sectors that include Building Materials, Mining Equipment, Audio Visual Technology, Architectural Hardware and Backflow Prevention. (PNA) FFC/DDB/lvp
