ILOILO CITY, June 29 The capitol office heads welcome Gov. Arthur Defensor and the new set of Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) as they prepare to take their oath on Thursday.
Iloilo Provincial Information Officer Marylou Sumbing said that she welcomes Defensor, the newly elected SP as well as those who have been reelected last May 10, 2010 poll.
Sumbing said that Gov. Defensor, who has previously served the province as governor, is a known performer and so she is looking forward to a more progressive leadership under him in terms of delivering the services and programs to the Ilonggo people.
She further hopes that the new governor will give focus on the more exciting programs such as on tourism and environment.
As for the SP, Sumbing said that since they have been elected by the people, then she hopes that they would deliver the necessary services and that they could come up with ordinances and resolutions for the good of the province.
Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Officer Dr. Ildefonso Toledo, meanwhile, said that he also welcomes Defensor and the SP members and that he is looking forward for them to bring the programs of the province into better heights.
I have worked with Gov. Defensor and he has a good management style and outlook for development, Dr. Toledo said.
He also said that since Defensor is adept on agriculture then he expects him to shift focus on agricultural development.
Meanwhile, Iloilo provincial secretary Atty. Lorenzo Tubola said that he is looking forward to be actively working with Defensor and especially with the SP after their oath-taking ceremonies to be held at the New Iloilo Capitol Building.
Today, the Iloilo SP is holding the Bienvenida and Despidida to welcome newly elected members and to bid farewell to those who will already be officially ending their term by tomorrow.
The farewell is being done in the last session of the SP today, Tuesday. (PNA) AJPetinglay
