Filipino football coach receives training certificate from Germany

MANILA, Aug. 30 —Youthful Filipino football coach Crisanto S. Gonzales of the Philippine Football Federation has received his coaching certificate from the German embassy in Manila following a two-week International Coaching Course (B-Licence) in Hennef, Germany.

Juergen Thomas Schrod, First Secretary for Cultural Affairs at the German Embassy in Manila, presented the international DFB (Deutsche Fußball-Bund or German Football Association) certificate to Gonzales in ceremonies at the embassy.

Germany is internationally renowned as a football-playing country, producing among the best competitors in such events as the World Cup.

Gonzales was the youngest among the 30 football coaches from 25 countries in Asia and Africa who were invited by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the course. It was organized by the DFB at the Sports Centre in Hennef.

The course included an introduction to modern training methods and techniques and visits to training sessions at German clubs, thus providing the participants with a better insight into German sport and club structure.

The international sports promotion of the Federal Foreign Office continues to be a positive impact of Germany’s commitment to develop sports in developing countries and a major contribution to international understanding, the embassy said. (PNA)
