CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan, Sept. 6 -– The provincial government of Bulacan will conduct “healthy" activities as part of the celebration of the month-long Singkaban Fiesta.
Through its project “Happy ang TODA Family sa Libreng PhilHealth ni Gob. Willy”, the provincial government will award Philhealth cards to some 1,200 members of tricycle operators and drivers association (TODA).
The distribution of Philhealth cards will be done at the Bulacan capitol gymnasium on Sept. 9, second day of the culminating week of the Singkaban festivities.
Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado said the distribution of medical insurance to cover the whole family "is one way of protecting and securing the health and wellness of our road heroes.”
Two other health-related activities, which are also part of the month-long celebration, are co-sponsored by private organizations.
The Bulacan Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., together with city/municipal association of health officers in Bulacan, will sponsor a medical mission which would benefit some 1,500 Bulakenyos who want to take advantage of free check-ups, consultations and medicines.
Some 60 Bulakenyos with harelip and cleft palate, on the other hand, will have their chance to be screened for a free operation at Baliwag District Hospital as part of the project “Ngiti Mo, Sagot Namin” sponsored by the Philippine Band of Mercy.
In a different twist, the Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts and Culture Office will host a competition to revive Kundiman, Balagtasan at Sayaw with the theme evolving on health as well.
This is open to elementary and high school, both private and public. (PNA)
