LEGAZPI CITY, Sept. 6 — Pinky Aquino-Abellada, President Benigno S. Aquino III's sister, will launch on Tuesday the "Aklat, Gabay at Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pagasa"(AGAPP) project in two villages in Albay, the Pinoy power Bicol Coalition of Volunteers (PPBCV) told PNA, Monday.

Abellada will lead the ground-breaking rites on Tuesday for pre-school classrooms in two identified barangays in this city and Daraga town, PPBCV president Dr. Ofelia Zamar-Sy said.

Sy said that Abellada’s project, dubbed AGAPP, will construct two day-care centers in Taysan Elementary School (Taysan Resettlement Integrated School) in Barangay Taysan, this city and Anislag Elementary School in Barangay Anislag, Daraga Town.

The project was earlier launched during the first death anniversary of former President Cory Aquino.

“Both barangays are home to residents displaced when super typhoon Reming hit Albay in 2006, and communities previously residing within Mayon Volcano 6-kilometer permanent danger zones threatened by volcanic eruption, lahar flow, flash flood, and landslides,” Sy said.

Initially Albay and Quezon City are the two pilot areas for the project.

Sy said that the project involves building a library and pre-school classroom, and providing of teacher’s training for pre-school teachers in select localities nationwide. It also provides books and other reading materials, feeding program for children, and livelihood projects for mothers.

AGAPP is an organization composed of dedicated classmates of P’Noy aimed at uplifting the quality of pre-school education to help kids lead a more successful adult lives.

AGAPP convenors have worked closely with volunteer groups, including PPBCV, and Department of Education to identify schools or communities in dire needs of access to education.(PNA) RMA/MSA/cbd
