LAOAG CITY, Sept. 29 — Jessa Cyril P. Lorenzo, 11-year-old 6th grader, won the Bb. Kalikasan title during a declamation contest recently held in this city in Ilocos Norte.
Lorenzo, coached by Mrs. Elvira Hernando, is a graduating pupil of the Cabeza Elementary School in the city, headed by Principal Dr. Marilou Sales.
She will represent District I on Oct. 22 in the Division level competition at the Shamrock Elementary School in the heart of the city, the provincial capital.
Lorenzo's piece — Prepare for the Night When Vengeance is Mine — tackled the case of Mother Nature against people of the Philippines whom it accused of destroying its resources.
The first and second runners-up in the district, comprising 11 schools, were from the Laoag Central Elementary School and the Apaya Elementary School, respectively.
Lorenzo, who belongs to the top five in her class since Grade 1, is the youngest of three children of Jessie Lorenzo, who teaches at the Pinili National High School, and the former Carmencita Polendey, who teaches at the Batac National High School, both in Ilocos Norte. (PNA)
