MANILA, Oct. 28 The Philippine National Police (PNP) has activated Letter of Instruction (LOI) Kaluluwa as part of its security preparations for Mondays observance of All Saints' Day throughout the country, a ranking police official said.
PNP spokesman Senior Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that PNP chief Director General Raul Bacalzo issued on Thursday LOI Kaluluwa to ensure peaceful and smooth commemoration of the occasion.
Cruz said that the PNP hierarchy will utilize 85 percent of its 135,000-strong personnel for the security preparations.
LOI Kaluluwa started Thursday. All PNP personnel who rendered duties during the last elections will be utilized for security and public safety and assistance, said Cruz.
It will be recalled that the PNP deployed 110,000 personnel to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of last Mondays Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections nationwide.
According to Cruz, police assistance desks would also be put up along the vicinities of cemeteries to maintain order.
The PNP spokesman reminded the public on the prohibition of liquor and deadly weapons within the vicinities of the cemeteries.
As part of the post-elections security, the PNP is still implementing the Commission on Elections-imposed nationwide gun ban.
Cruz said that police personnel would be visible in bus terminals, ports and airports where people are expected to troop for travel to their respective provinces. (PNA) scs/MM
