BAGUIO CITY, Jan. 28 — Pupils from 17 elementary schools here will perform their prepared street dances during the grand opening rites of the Baguio Flower Festival (BFF) on February 1, according to the secretariat of the event.
Dangal "Amboy" Guevarra, chair of the BFF secretariat, said of the 17 entries, 15 are public elementary schools while two are private.
"Nine of the entries will be selected who shall perform on February 26 for the grand street dancing parade, one of the two most important highlights of the festival. The other one is the float parade which will be on February 27," he said.
Guevarra said all preparations for the February 1 opening rites are now being made. "This include the sprucing up of the Panagbenga Park which is near the gate of the Camp John Hay which will be inaugurated that day," he said.
The park is significant to the event because all future parades for the festival will start from that point to allow more space for spectators to watch the various activities.
"It is barely three days now and we are all excited. We are optimistic that there will be good crowd to watch and participate our opening ceremonies and grand parade," Guevarra added. (PNA)
