MANILA, Feb. 27 – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has commended a Japanese Lions Club International official for helping provide dental and medical services to homeless disaster victims.
DSWD Undersecretary Celia Yangco presented a Plaque of Appreciation to Masayoshi Maruyama, District Governor of Japan Lions Club International 334-E, for the club’s continuing support for the DSWD in helping the disaster victims and disadvantaged families.
Yangco also thanked Maruyama for the club’s donation of 52 boxes of towels, toothbrush, bars of soap and blankets for DSWD beneficiaries.
The plaque presentation was done during the culminating activity of the 36th Japan and Philippines Joint Medical Mission early this February.
Attending the event were Kiyoto Sato, past District Governor; and Hiroshi Onda, District International Relations Chairperson.
Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Makoto Katsura, also graced the occasion. (PNA)
