TUGUEGARAO CITY, July 29 – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently recognized 22 individuals, institutions, government agencies and non-government organizations for their outstanding support and assistance in the development of science and technology (S&T) projects in the region held at the Cagayan State University (CSU) Andrews Campus here.
DOST regional director Dr. Urdujah Tejada said the plaques of recognition given to the awardees are not enough to pay back their efforts and untiring support to all programs and projects of DOST, especially in partnering with them to help the marginalized and to introduce technologies for the development of products from the region.
The awardees, Tejada said, will give meaning to the objective of the government to produce products that can contribute to the development of peoples’ lives and the country’s economy.
Among the awardees were the Cagayan province for its technical assistance and partnerships, Sanchez Mira for its coconut industry, Sta Praxedes for its Saracat bag weaving, Cagayan State University (CSU), Sanchez Mira campus for the production of products out of coconut, Tuguegarao City for its Karne Ibanag and Gonzaga, Cagayan for it fish paste production.
Isabela, the rice, mongo and peanut industry of Jones; Isabela State University (ISU)for its technical support; and the Minerva farms for its mushroom production.
In Nueva Vizacaya, the Kian farm that produces tipalia and ulang was also recognized, together with the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), Jayden’s Farm for its polyculture and the DWRV Radio Veritas for giving free slots to DOST for the information and education campaign of S&T.
The province of Batanes was also recognized. (PNA)
