PWDs get educational assistance

ILOILO CITY, Aug. 1 – Eight persons with disability (PWDs) received their educational assistance from the city government during a ceremony held Monday at the City Hall.

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog handed out P35,000 to be used by the scholars for school year 2011-2012.

Each college scholar was given P4,500 per semester, while those in high school received P3,500 per semester.

The scholars are Jaro Jimce, Meldy Horario and Missy Edjan of Associated Computer Systems Institute (ACSI); Andrew Oñas and Salvacion Sadiasa of West Visayas State University (WVSU); Vincent Paul Pojas of SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children; Christine Aurelio of Western Institute of Technology (WIT); and John Kin Hiballes of Central Philippine University (CPU).

Representing the scholars, Andrew Oñas from West Visayas State University, thanked the city government for the assistance, stressing this would be a big help to their studies.

Mabilog said the city will continue to give educational assistance as long as the scholars could maintain their grades. (PNA)
