MANILA, Feb. 27 — The University of Makati (UMAK) will hold its annual Mega Job Fair on Feb. 28 and 29 at the Ground Floor of UMAK Bridgeway in celebration of its 40th Founding Anniversary.
University president Tomas B. Lopez of UMAK said Makati residents, and the graduates and graduating students of UMAK would benefit from this mega fair.
The university sponsors job fairs yearly so that we can provide residents and students a venue to find employment that matches their competencies, Lopez said.
The mega job fair was the kick-off activity to the University's week-long foundation day celebration. It is a project of the UMAK OJT and Placement Services Center in coordination with the Makati Public Employment Services Office (PESO), and also aims to enhance the linkages with industry partners.
Among the 35 companies participating in the event are ABS-CBN and Star Cinema Film Production, Bench, Standard Chartered Bank, IBM, Jobstreet, Philippine National Bank, Neo Computer Systems, Filinvest Development Corp., Banco de Oro, CHRD Group of Companies, Convergys, Accenture, Aegis People Support, JP Morgan Chase & Co., Robinson Retail, Phil Fiber Tech Industries Inc., McDonalds, Primepower Manpower Services, and Asia Pro Cooperative.
Prospective applicants are advised to wear business attire and bring at least 10 copies of their resumes.
The city-owned university is also celebrating its twin achievements the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 Certification on Quality Management Systems and the accreditation of the 10 curriculum programs by the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA).
Other activities lined-up for the anniversary to run until March 2 are a thanksgiving mass, grand parade, university intramurals, exhibits, inter-local colleges quiz bee, essay contest, film showing, symposia, IT Olympics, cultural show, seminar workshop on Magna Carta for public school teachers, blood letting activity, bone screening and ophthalmology check.
The culminating event on March 2 is the Gabi ng Parangal wherein 91 employees will receive recognition for exemplary performance and loyalty to the university, seven of whom have served the university for 35 years.
UMAK, located at J.P. Rizal ext. Barangay West Rembo, is a member of the Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU).
It holds the distinction of being the first university to implement a dual training system to develop competent graduates whose skills are attuned with the needs of the industry. (PNA) RMA/LOR/CLTC
