PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Feb. 28 The Birdwatch Palawan Ornithological Society (BPOS) is organizing for next month the 2nd Birdwatching Basics Training for Eco-tourism here in a bid to educate birding enthusiasts and tourist guides on the basics of birdwatching and promote avian conservation.
Slated on March 15 to 17, the training is expected to promote birdwatching in Puerto Princesa and Palawan, and how it can be done as a fresh eco-tourism activity, the BPOS said. It will be done in cooperation with the City Tourism Office, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff.
Among the lectures that will be presented to participants are wildlife photography, digiscoping sessions, and an actual birdwatching activity.
In the city, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park-World Heritage Site at Sitio Sabang, Barangay Cabayugan has been identified as one of the best birdwatching sites in the country. The province, on the other hand, has Rasa Island in the municipality of Narra in Southern Palawan. (PNA) LAP/LAM/CARF/utb
