BAGUIO CITY, April 25 — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Wednesday said the job fairs scheduled here on May 1 and 2 would help the more than 38,000 unemployed local residents of the Cordillera region to find jobs.
DOLE regional director Henry Jalbuena during the "Kapehan sa Baguio" said the job fair also targets the more than 140,000 underemployed in the region.
"The administration under President Benigno Aquino has targeted this year to create at least one million jobs for the unemployed in the country," Jalbuena said.
Jalbuena said that based on DOLE records, there are 755,000 in the Cordillera labor force who are gainfully employed in the white collar jobs, technical and vocational sectors.
He said that both local and foreign employers have signified participation in the jobs fair at the Baguio Convention Center to celebrate Labor Day. (PNA)
