Santiago City's Pattaradday Festival opens May 1

SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela, Apri 30 -– The Pattaradday festival of this city, among the best tourism events of the Philippines, will formally opens on May 1 with the theme: “Nagkaisa sa Pagbabago, Nagsamasama sa Pagsulong; Patungo sa Tagumpay.”

Sammy Baltar, Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) secretary, said the organizers of the festival has lined-up activities for the week-long celebration aimed at highlighting the festivities and make every Santiaguenos proud of their culture and products.

Pattaradday Festival pre-celebration include jobs and science fairs conducted Monday (April 30) at the city hall lobby to showcase the different products, programs and employment opportunities.

The jobs fair will be spearheaded by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 2 where local and foreign employers will be present during the jobs fair on May 1.

Baltar said the celebration will start with a thanksgiving mass at Saint James parish to be attended by officials and employees of the city government followed by opening of the trade, jobs and science fair.

The formal opening of the festival will be conducted Tuesday to be held at the Bulwagan ng Mamamayan at the back of the city hall and a kite flying competition in the afternoon will follow.

Among other activities to be conducted are concerts, fun run, bread making contest, recyclable craft making contest, awarding of Ulirang Ina and leadership awards; Juan Katawan fitness exercise; farmers day; search for Mutya ng Santiago; mountain bike competition; battle of the bands; street dancing; and drum and lyre competition.
