ZAMBOANGA CITY, May 9 – The Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources has acquired millions of pesos worth of computer equipment to upgrade its capability and data bases using information technology in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The IT equipment include 149 desk top computers (70 sets official standard and 79 official professional), five (5) lap tops, 79 printers, and 24 scanners.

These equipment were distributed to all Provincial/City Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO’s/CENROs) and other divisions at the regional office of the DENR 9.

Four other single motorcycles were also given to each PENROs in the region last April 27, according to DENR Regional Executive Director Arleigh Adorable.

The turnover was held at the Liga Convention Center in Pagadian City, the regional government center for the Zamboanga Peninsula Region.

The formal turn-over of the IT equipment to the recipient users and transfer of accountability from the top management down to the CENRO level was witnessed by two ranking officials of the DENR – Undersecretary for Field Operations Ernesto Adobo, Jr. and USec for Planning and Policy Demetrio Ignacio, Jr.

Executive Director Adorable said that at last these IT equipments are now in the region, something that has been desired for the last several years.

USec Adobo, in his message, said “with the upgrading of our IT facilities, the department would be at par if not be better than any other department in the government.

“With these equipment we would be the most advance offices in the field.”

USec Ignacio himself said the equipment are tools to make good in your work, but these tools are going to be the backbone in our operations in the next three years." (PNA) hbc/FMS/utb
