MANILA, June 29 – To ensure that the spiritual needs of our soldiers are being met, the Military Bishop of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) visited the 4th Infantry Division base in Camp Evangelista, Cagayan De Oro City Thursday.
Most Reverend Leopoldo S. Tumulak, D.D., Military Bishop, arrived at the facility at around 9 a.m.
The Catholic Chaplain of 52nd Engineering Brigade, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and Police Regional Office 10 were also invited to be with Most Reverend Tumulak.
They had a prayer meeting, group sharing and informal discussion on religious matters and issues, afterwhich, visited the Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental. Rev. Tumulak then led the celebration of the Holy Mass at 6 p.m. at the camp's Catholic Church.
The Military Bishop left Cagayan De Oro at 6:10 a.m. Friday and headed to Cebu City to visit military units in the area for the same purpose, spiritual enrichment of the soldiers.
I welcomed Bishop Tumulak visit . It is a good opportunity for our soldiers to meet a religious figure like him regularly. I hope that every soldier in the division will have a high regard to the spiritual aspect of their life and be reminded to live a life in accordance with the will of our God Almighty," 4th Infantry Division chief Major Gen.
