BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 8 — Agusan del Norte second district Rep. Maria Angelica Rosedel Amante-Matba vowed to continue the gains of the province under the stewardship of her brother Governor Erlpe John Amante.
The lady solon filed her certificate of candidacy for Governor under Liberal Party last Friday being LP’s provincial chairperson, while her brother current Agusan del Norte Governor John Amante filed his COC for Congressman for the province’ second district under local party Kusog Agusanon.
Speaking before 200 provincial officials,employees and ordinary folk, Governor Amante explained he filed under Kusog Agusanon because he wanted a political party that would reflect the aspirations of the Agusanons.
At a press conference, Rep. Amante said her priority once elected as Governor is to institute reforms in fiscal management, especiallyon the wise and prudent use of limited resources of the provincial government.
She also vowed to push for strengthened delivery of basic government services on health, increased agriculture productivity and promotion of eco-tourism.
The lady solon said she wants to continue the very high performance rating the province got in terms of governance in 2011 given by then DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo.
The province then got 4.82 rating with 5.00 as the highest.
The DILG award underscored the commendable achievement of the province in addressing various needs of its constituents through DILG’s Local Governance Performance Management System (LGPMS) to determine performance of LGU covering 19 service areas namely Local Legistlation, Development Planning, Revenue Generation, Resource Allocation and Utilization, Human Resource Management and Development, Support to Health Services and Support to Education Services, Support to Housing and Basic Facilities, Peace, Security and Disaster Risk Management among others.
LGPMS is a self-assessment management and development tool introduced by the DILG to enable provincial, city and municipal governments determine their capabilities and limitations in the delivery of government basic services.
Among provinces of Caraga Region, Agusan del Norte is the only province that is not included in the most poorest list. (PNA)
