SEOUL, Republic of Korea, Jan. 31 — ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General, Hae Moon Chung) launched the ASEAN-Korea Drawing Contest for elementary and middle school students under the theme ASEAN and Korea, We are Friends.
The contest, in its third year, was held with the aim to raise awareness of ASEAN and foster the value of friendship among the younger generation.
A total of 620 entries were received from all over the nation from December 10, 2012 to January 23, 2013.
For the middle school category, Ye Chan Park (2nd grade, Bonghwa Middle School, Seoul) won gold for the entry Lets go, towards the future and for the elementary school category, Yu Chan Nam (1st grade, Newstar (Saetbyeol) Elementary School, Cheongju) won gold for the entry Traveling in ASEAN countries together with friends from ASEAN.
Meanwhile, 5 silver, 10 bronze and 15 special recognition awards were given to middle school students and 6 silver, 12 bronze and 50 special recognition awards were given to elementary students.
The Award Ceremony and the exhibition opening will be held on February 19, at the ASEAN Hall of ASEAN-Korea Centre where all winning students will be awarded with a certificate and prize.
The exhibition of the 100 winning and specially recognized artworks will be held until March 29 at the ASEAN Hall. These works will also be made available for viewing online through the Cyber Gallery on the Centres homepage.
ASEAN-Korea Centre, established as an intergovernmental organization in March 2009, is mandated to increase trade volume, accelerate investment flow, invigorate tourism and enrich cultural exchanges between the ASEAN Member States and Korea.
Since its inception in 2009, ASEAN-Korea Centre has been carrying out a series of awareness-raising activities for young students such as school tours, lecture visits and networking programs. (PNA)
