MANILA, March 27 — Who says honesty is now a dead virtue?
Apparently, the news of its demise did not reach SPO2 Edgar Lim, a member of the Valenzuela Police assigned to its detention center, as he took pains to return the yellow colored bag to its real owner Tuesday.
He said he found the bag in front of San Louie College, Maysan Road, Valenzuela around 7:45 p.m. on March 25 while headed home after his duty.
Lim called up his superiors and informed them about his find and said he will be taking temporary custody of the bag until claimed by its real owner.
Inspections revealed the bag contained P6,500 in cash, a USD 10 bill, 152 assorted coins, a Samsung cellphone unit, identification cards from the Government Service Insurance System, Professional Regulation Commissionbearing the name of one "Rubelyn S. Cruz", a school teacher at the Malinta National High School and a resident of Barangay Karuhatan, Valenzuela.
Aside from this, a Land Bank ATM card was found beside other personal items owned by Cruz.
This done, Lim told bystanders to tell persons looking for the bag to claim it at the Valenzuela City Police Station.
The bag was eventually claimed by the school teacher around 9 a.m. last March 26.
She positively identified all the items and said that she accidentally dropped the bag while riding a motorcycle last March.
Cruz thanked Lim and the entire Valenzuela police force for their kindness and consideration. (PNA)
