MANILA, March 30 — As of 6 p.m. on Black Saturday, the Philippine Red Cross said it had assisted about 10,662 people during the Holy Week rush.
A total 9,270 were assisted for blood pressure taking, 1,284 for minor injuries, 72 for major injuries while 36 were transported.
Since Thursday, PRC provided first aid assistance and ambulance service on major roads for the Holy Week vacation from March 26 to April 2.
Ambulances and first aid were stationed in parts of the country including Aklan, Basilan, Bulacan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Capiz, Ifugao, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Lanao del Norte, Lapu-lapu, Masbate, Occidental Mindoro Navotas, Olongapo, Pampanga, Zambales, Santiago City, San Pablo City, Batangas, Cebu, Cavite, Zamboanga del Sur, Pangasinan, Laguna, Kalinga and Compostela Valley.
PRC continues to monitor the number of Holy Week-related injuries as the religious celebration comes to a close on Easter Sunday. (PNA)
