CEBU CITY, April 29 — An ongoing art exhibit at the SM City Cebu Art Center features the images of the Senor Santo Niño in different churches all over Cebu.
The art exhibit, with the theme, Kaplag: Expressing the Face of Jesus in Art in the Year of Faith 2013, is part of the commemoration of the 448th anniversary of the finding of the image of the Santo Niño de Cebu.
It is a solo exhibit of the works of Fr. Dominador Besares, OSA. It opened Sunday and will run until May 12.
The exhibit of 27 art works featuring the Santo Niño de Cebu in various Cebu churches architectural details is the culminating activity that the Augustinian Fathers of the Basilica del Sto. Nino put up to mark the 448th Kaplag celebration.
Besares said it took him three years to come up with all the art works he displayed in the exhibit.
Among the early art patrons who visited the exhibit was Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma who bought Sunday the most expensive art piece in the exhibit a painting of the Holy Family made of mother of pearl shaped into a flower, worth P20,000.
Palma congratulated Besares for the magnificent job as the latter did not only portray something beautiful but also sublime. (PNA)
