MANILA, July 11 — Police Director Leonardo Espina of the National Capital Region Police Office has been placed in 4th highest position in Philippine National Police, according to PNP Chief Director General Alan Purisima Thursday.
Purisima assigned Espina as the Chief of Directorial Staff of the 148,000-strong PNP.
As TCDS, Espina will assist the Chief PNP in supervising all activities and functions of the PNP Directorial Staff Offices, Purisima said.
Espina will be replaced as NCRPO Regional Director by Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr.
PNP Public Information Office Chief, Sr. Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac said this latest upward movement of officials occupying key positions in the PNP was triggered by the retirement this week of Police Director Arnulfo Perez, former Director for Logistics, and the recent retirement of Deputy Director General Rommel Heredia, former Deputy Chief for Administration, and two other star-rank officers.
He added the other major changes in key positions include the designation of erstwhile PNP Spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., as Officer–in-Charge(OIC) of Police Regional Office 7 in Central Visayas; and he was replaced by Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor as PNP Spokesperson.
