SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna July 30 (PNA) - The National Statistics Office Laguna provincial office here gears up and has lined up activities as it joins the nationwide observance of the NSO 73rd Founding Anniversary on Aug 19.
Laguna Provincial Statistics Officer Magdalena T. Serqueña disclosed that the August celebration adopts the theme Handog ng NSO: 73 Taong Pusong Serbisyo sa Mundo (the NSO gift: 73 years of dedicated service to the world).
Serqueña said that since NSOs founding on Aug 19, 1940, the governments census agency continues to serve the public with dedication in providing accurate and timely statistics and data not only to the public and the government functionaries but also to the private sector.
She said that the NSO also sustains its services to students, academic and research groups and business sector who gather data for project planning, policy formulation and business in the country.
The Laguna census official said that the NSO sustains its almost daily operations in providing vital civil documents such birth, marriage and death certificates to every Filipino anywhere in the world.
She explained that the Filipinos working or residing overseas may request the NSO documents and processing of the vital records through the Consul General of the Philippine Embassy to be transmitted to the NSO head office.
Serqueña also cited the NSOs accomplishments through the years with the legislation of various reforms on document processing such as Republic Acts 9048, 9255 and 10172 which remove the burden of having to go through court before any amendment or correction is made on the persons data in the original documents.
Among these hassle-free procedures, Serqueña elaborated are the administrative processing of correcting the error or wrong data in the document sans the court order and the requests could now be forwarded to the nearest Local Civil Registry Office of the persons residence.
The Laguna NSO provincial head also informed that Filipinos abroad could course the requests through the Consulate General Office or Philippine Embassy nearest them.
Serqueña also said that the NSO is now equipped with electronic devices that speed up processing of requests for documents and data on-line and no longer require to hand-carry and submit personally the request.
The public may now request the civil documents or certificates through the nearest BREQS or the batch request services outlets such as the Local Civil Registrar and SM Mall branches.
These are transmitted to the nearest and accessible NSO Serbilis Outlets through the electronic system.

Besides the census activities and statistics events, NSO-Laguna also conducts tree-planting activities four times a year spearheaded by Serqueña.
Provincial Statistics Officer Serqueña expressed the NSO-Lagunas appreciation for the support of the Calabarzon media personalities Ruben E. Taningco, local publishers, PIA, PIO, CIO, Philippines News Agency, Provincial, Municipal, City Planning and Development Offices, City and Municipal Registrars and the Dept. of Interior and Local Government.
Serqueña thanked this early both local and national government agencies and multi-sectoral leaders and business sector for their support to the NSOs recently implemented Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture, 2012 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries and 2012 Census of Philippine Business and Industry.(PNA)
