WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 — The Aug. 3 Bear Valley Music Festival in California will feature Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko who won the gold medal at the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in June, the event's organizers announced.

He'll join the festival’s orchestra to perform works like Mendelssohn’s Symphony #4.

The open-air performance will be held in Bear Valley Village, a mountain resort in northern California.

Kholodenko was born in Ukraine in 1986 and by age 13 was already performing internationally, making appearances in the US, China and Hungary, noted his management’s website.

He won the USD50,000 Van Cliburn Competition in Dallas with warmly received performances of Sergei Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto and Mozart’s Concerto No. 21.
