ILOILO CITY, Sept. 26 The province of Antique joined in the country's celebration of the National Family Week with the holding of the two-day family camp starting Sept. 26-27, spiced with various activities in San Jose de Buenavista, aimed at strengthening family unity and relationships.
Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Lazaro G. Petinglay said that the celebration of the Family Week is in accordance to Presidential Proclamation No. 60 signed on September 18, 1992 in order to promote the Filipino value in giving importance to the family.
He said that aside from the holding of the family camp, they also had the launching of the Family Week at the capitol on September 23 where they read synopsis on the celebration with a prayer of a child and ecumenical prayer by religious organizations before the provincial heads and employees.
A family forum with resource speakers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Commission on Human Rights were also held. This was participated in by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (MSWDO), faith based organizations, and inter-agency partners in the province on September 24.
Discussed during the forum were the International Human Rights policies and the Solo Parents Welfare Act of 2000. The Family Welfare Program of DSWD, ERPAT program that seeks to incapacitate the fathers, and the family disaster preparedness were also presented.
Petinglay said that all these activities are being held as form of commitment of the province to really participate and give full involvement in the Family Welfare Program of DSWD.
On Friday at the camp culmination, the PSWDO will also declare winners of their search for model families or the Huwarang Pamilyang Filipino and in the poster-making contest. (PNA)
