Salceda leads DOT Gayon Bicol awardees in 1st Regional Tourism Summit

LEGAZPI CITY, Sept. 26 (PNA) – Nineteen Gayon Bicol awardees will be honored Thursday evening during the first day of the first Bicol Regional Tourism Summit sponsored by the Department of Tourism at the Oriental Hotel here.

Leading the awardees is Albay Governor Joey Sarte Salceda in the category of Gayon Bicol Awards for Tourism Champions.

Other awardees under this category are former Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte, Naga City Mayor John G Bongat, Legazpi City Mayor Noel E. Rosal, former Sorsogon governor and now Sorsogon City Mayor Sally Lee, Daet Mayor Tito Sarion, former Bulusan mayor and now Board Member Michael Gusayco (2nd District, Sorsogon); former Iriga City Mayor Madelaine Alfelor-Gazmen and the late Mayor Jerome Alcantara of Donsol, Sorsogon (posthumous awardee).

Gayon Bicol Medal Valor awardees are Philip Bartilet, Aguinaldo Carino, Bobby Adrao, Rhyan Nuyda and George Cordovilla.

The Gayon Bicol Awards for Enterpise Service Excellence go to the Avenue Plaza Hotel and the Misibis Bay Resort.

Recipients of the Bicol Awards for Tourism Development Partners are Cecilia H. Duran, World Wildlife Fund and Danilo Intong.

The Gayon Bicol Awards 2013 recognizes and honors individuals, groups and institutions in the tourism sector of Bicol .

The criteria for the awards are leadership, innovation, creativity, contribution to the development of international, national, regional and local tourism.

DOT Bicol regional director Maria Nini Ravanilla said the awards will serve as an inspiration to anybody to contribute to the development of the tourism industry of the region, especially with impact on the national and global community. (PNA)
