M-4.1 quake hits Chiba,Japan, strong tremor felt in Tokyo

TOKYO, March 30 — An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit Japan's Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo at 12:23 p.m. local time on Sunday, with strong tremor felt in Tokyo, according to Japan's Meteorological Agency.

An earlier report said the epicenter was in Niigata Prefecture, northwestern Japan and the magnitude was 6.0.

The revised epicenter was believed to be at 35.8 degrees north latitude and 140.1 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 80 km, said the agency.(PNA/Xinhua)
