LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte, June 19 (PNA) — About 50 police investigators from various police stations in the province will undertake a 45-day Criminal Investigation Course (CIC) to enhance their investigative skills and increase crime solution efficiency.
At the opening ceremony of the CIC class 02-2014R1 held at the Saint Ignatius de Loyola Chapel at Camp Valentin S. Juan in Laoag City on Wednesday afternoon, PSSupt Antonio Mendoza Jr., officer-in-charge of the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO), said the training is very important to level up investigators basic knowledge and familiarize themselves on technical procedures in investigation.
As part of the Philippine National Police continuing efforts to upgrade the skills competency of investigators, Governor Imee Marcos, who was guest of honor and speaker, recognized the need for investigators to become updated of the constantly changing laws, rules and regulations.
Based on the latest status of peace and order in the province, crime clearance in the province is barely 43 percent.
Through a lifelong training particularly among police personnel who had no police education degree way back in college, Mendoza hopes the crime solution efficiency will be increased by at least 6 percent per month.
According to the PNP, this is now the second phase of the continuing special skills training of police investigators as they step up for third and fourth phase, respectively.(PNA)
