CITY OF ILAGAN, Dec. 30 (PNA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Isabela Province has surpassed its targeted 5.5 million planted seedlings following a 100-percent-plus production in the identified national greening program sites in the province.
Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer William Savella said PENRO-Isabelas contribution helped in the realization of the 12.53-million target for Cagayan Valley region this December 2014.
With the ample help of our partner agencies, local government units and civil society groups, we were able to attain our target. In fact, we even surpassed it, he said.
Savella said they have been evaluating and monitoring the NGP sites which were earlier planted with different species of forest and fruit bearing trees to know the survival rate and height increase of planted trees.
The DENR has also evaluated the tree plantation in Quezon, Isabela; mango farm in Quirino, Isabela; g-melina in Quirino, Isabela; acacia and alibambang trees in Cauayan City; and mangrove areas in Divilacan, Isabela.(PNA)
