5.4-magnitude quake hits near Miyako, Japan: USGS

HONG KONG, Feb. 24 — An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted 111 km east of Miyako, Japan at 2:28:52 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 9.16 km, was initially determined to be at 39.665 degrees north latitude and 143.2489 degrees east longitude. (PNA/Xinhua)
