High school teacher wins 'Darling of the Press' award in Pangasinan beauty tilt

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, March 25 — A 22-year-old high school teacher from Sta. Barbara town, this province, impressed members of the media, winning for herself the "Darling of the Press" award during their press presentation of the "Limgas na Dayat" (Maiden of the Sea) beauty pageant in Pangasinan on March 23 at the Capitol Resort here

Maybelle Pameroyan won the hearts of the press not only with her beauty but with how she answered when asked to define the meaning of "success."

"When it comes to a point when you look back in your life and you have no regrets…," she responded, outdoing others in the eyes of the members of the media.

Pameroyan, a cum laude graduate of the Pangasinan State University-Bayambang campus, teaches English to Grade 7 students at the Daniel Maramba National High School in her hometown.

Asked how the pageant might affect her career, especially on what her students might comment, she said, "I know that I'll be a great example to my students because I didn't let my profession be a limit to me to reach my goals in life."

The young lass, who considers the special award she just clutched as a 'privilege,' has joined several local pageants in the past, including the Ms. Galicayo and school-based beauty contests.

Yvone Papa, Lingayen; Maria Izabell Domingo, Urdaneta City; Giselle Llena, Mapandan; May Ann Uy, Dagupan City; Kristine Marie Lalata, Manaoag; Sherry Anne De Guzman, Pozorrubio; Jobelle Salvador, Rosales; Joanabelle Solomon, Manaoag; Sharmaine Espinoza, Mangaldan; Orielle Kim Basali, Urdaneta City; Princess Daquioag, Dasol; Kelly Cassandra Margate, Mangatarem; Jasmine Poserio, Dagupan City; Luisa Joy Bautista, Binmaley; Maybelle Pameroyan, Sta. Barbara; Nichelle Yvette Corral, Bugallon; Riza Diego, Bayambang; Vianca Ann Lamsen (Bugallon); Ferline Aquino, Lingayen; Jill Trixia Jacinto, Malasiqui; and Czaremma April Burgos, Aguilar.

"Darling of the Press" award is one of the special awards of the Limgas na Pangasinan pageant.

Meanwhile, Limgas na Pangasinan 2015 Talent Night will be held on April 23 while the Pageant Night will be on April 30.

The pageant is the most-anticipated search for an ambassadress of environment and tourism in the province.

It is a major activity for the month-long staging of the province's Agew na Pangasinan (Pangasinan Day) and Pista'y Dayat (Sea Festival), which will run from April 8 to May 3. (PNA)
