CEBU CITY, April 16 — Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle and 50 other bishops from different parts of the world will be present during the 450th Sto. Nino de Cebu Kaplag (finding) celebration on April 27.
Tagle will be presiding over the last novena mass after the grand reenactment on April 27.
Fr. Harold Rentoria, executive director of the 450th Kaplag celebration, said that aside from the 50 bishops, Tagle will also be joined by 100 local clergymen, particularly members of the Augustinian Order.
Aside from Tagle, Archbishop Piero Marini, president of the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses, is also expected to come as a representative of the Vatican.
The mass will also be accompanied by a 450-man choir that will sing in the four masses on April 27.
Fr. Jonas Mejares, rector of the Basilica Minore del Santo Nino, said that aside from their own choir group, they have enlisted the help of other choirs in Cebu.
Before the mass, a grand reenactment will be held in honor of the discovery of the Santo Niño in Cebu.
TV director Floy Quintos, who was tapped by the Kaplag committee to help in the celebration, said the reenactment will be done at the Malacañang sa Sugbo, Magellans Cross and the Basilica Pilgrim Center.
Quintos said the grand reenactment will be more historically accurate as they have asked for the help of various historians.
He said the grand reenactment will be done by an all-Cebuano cast, composed of students from Cebus colleges and universities and members of Val Sandiegos well-known dance troupe. (PNA)
