DUMAGUETE CITY, April 28 – More than 4,000 job vacancies will be made available by 24 companies to those seeking local and overseas employment during the Labor Day jobs fair at a shopping mall in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

The event, with its theme "Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan alay natin sa Bayan", will kick off at 8 a.m. on May 1, Friday, at the Robinsons Place with Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria giving their respective messages.

The jobs fair is jointly sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment, the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council, the provincial government of Negros Oriental and the city government of Dumaguete to highlight the celebration of Labor Day this year.

According to Socorro Mira, head of the city’s Public Employment Service Office, 16 local and eight overseas companies will offer a variety of positions to thousands of unemployed job seekers on that day.

Applicants can visit the PESO and pre-register so that they can shop early on the day of job fair, Mira said.

The job vacancies available are assorted and include, among others, skills engineers, nurses, midwives, service crew, hotel crew, butchers, electricians and welders.

Among the companies expected to hire workers during the Labor Day jobs fair are at least four local call centers, IMC, San Miguel, Sun Life Lee Plaza, Hyundai, Century High and Magsaysay, Mira said.

Meanwhile, a Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Mobile License Renewal and ID Release is scheduled May 7 to 8 also at the said shopping mall, according to Mira.

Applicants can pre-register and get forms at the PESO Office, 2nd floor of Building 2 of the Public Market in Dumaguete City for those who would like to request for their IDs to be brought over and released here, she said.

They have to visit and make a request at the PESO as their names, profession, registration number and date of birth are needed to facilitate such request, Mira said. (PNA)
