5.1-magnitude quake hits East of the North Island of New Zealand

HONG KONG, May 14 — An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted East of the North Island of New Zealand at 19:18:09 GMT on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 18.82 km, was initially determined to be at 35.3868 degrees south latitude and 178.59 degrees west longitude. (PNA/Xinhua)
