MANDURRIAO, Iloilo City, May 14 — A young lady from the landlocked town of Lambunao, Iloilo working as a food court attendant at SM City Mall won many hearts on Wednesday when she saw fit to return a bagful of money to its rightful owner.
Jenny Rose Comoda, 26, was inside the comfort room when a bag lying idly before the glass mirror caught her eye, and when she opened it saw several bundles of peso bills. Losing no time, she called the attention of her superiors regarding it and immediately, efforts to locate the owner quickly followed.
Juliet Hallara, 66, of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, was in tears upon learning her bag was found and the money intact, and said between sobs that she had just drawn PHP172,000 from the bank as a loan to start a water refilling business.
Asked why she returned the money, Jenny Rose who receives a daily wage of PHP250 replied that she feared God and taking something not hers is a grave sin.
The Lambunao local government praised Comoda for her honesty, saying she did her town proud. The Municipal Board would honor Comoda for the deed that should be emulated by every citizen. (PNA)
